P Town Pirates – the NEW album from Manpanics
Developed over a year, conceived in Sydney, Dubai and Penarth, P Town Pirates is the brand new album from Manpanics and is available to buy at most online music stores.
The album was influenced by the many places it was recorded, and sees a return by Manpanics to some of his earlier music’s feel.
“I took on board everything I was experiencing at the time. Musically I was digging heaps of styles from traditional Arabic music, Dub & Reggae to early Hip Hop and Drum & Bass.
Sydney always makes me relax and the tracks Cultivate and Take Your Time were both conceived there in the summer of 2010. I was living between the studio and the beach, listening to a lot of Dub and Reggae, it was an awsome time.
Dubai is a unique and incredible city, my Dad and sister live there. Hot, humid, loud, fast, big, arrogant, glamorous, edgy, expensive, enchanting…… I wrote Lonely Planets in 2002 after a trip back from the middle east and I wanted to use something that sounded like the Arabic qanun, a stringed instrument a bit like a harp on its side. I revisited the track for the album and it felt right on P Town Pirates.
It also felt right to finish the album in my hometown, Penarth in Wales. The name P Town Pirates refers to Penarth town and my friends, the P Town Pirates, who always inspire me.”
